Engineering Manager – Core Infrastructure
Our client is a publicly traded enterprise software company with strong cash flow, a loyal Fortune 500 customer base, and a multi-year platform modernization initiative underway. Engineering is investing heavily in its core infrastructure to migrate away from a legacy ingestion pipeline onto a modern Kafka + ClickHouse architecture.
As Engineering Manager – Core Infrastructure you will lead a team of 8 engineers (a mix of senior and mid-level ICs and one tech lead) responsible for the data ingestion path that every product feature depends on. You will own hiring, performance, technical direction, and on-call health for the team, and you will partner with adjacent EMs and product leadership on quarterly planning.
The role suits a hands-on engineering manager who came up as a strong IC and still reads code daily but spends the bulk of their time on people, planning, and cross-team coordination. The company offers Big Tech-comparable compensation with the stability of a profitable public company.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering management experience including direct ownership of hiring, performance, and team direction
- 7+ years of total software engineering experience prior to or alongside management

- Track record of growing and retaining strong engineers
- Experience operating a 24/7 production system with a formal on-call rotation
