Our client is a mission-driven regional health system operating four community hospitals (350–420 beds each) and an integrated 400-provider medical group across the Twin Cities metro. Following a recent capital raise, the system is investing in ambulatory expansion, a new value-based-care operating model, and a major EMR consolidation, and is recruiting a CMO to lead the clinical transformation.
As Chief Medical Officer you will report to the CEO with a dotted line to the Board's quality committee. Direct reports include the system VPMA, the CMIO, and the medical directors of quality, care management, and physician engagement. You will chair the system Medical Executive Committee, drive the credentialing and peer review processes, and own physician compensation strategy in partnership with HR and finance.
The role suits an experienced physician executive who has already carried a system-CMO or large-hospital-CMO title and wants to lead a full-scale clinical transformation. Compensation package includes base, annual performance bonus (tied to quality and financial metrics), long-term incentive, and executive benefits including deferred compensation.
Requirements
- MD or DO with active board certification in a clinical specialty and an unrestricted medical license
- MBA, MHA, MMM, or equivalent advanced management training strongly preferred
- 10+ years of clinical practice plus 7+ years in progressively senior physician leadership (VPMA, hospital CMO, or system CMO)
- Demonstrated experience leading through EMR migration, value-based-care contracting, and medical group integration
- Board experience or board readiness; ability to represent the system publicly
